Welcome to the Parish of Dunkeld Handbell Ringers

Member of The Handbell Ringers of Great Britain  www.hrgb.org.uk

The group was formed in October 2002 and is now one of the most active handbell teams in Scotland, with a policy of promoting the art of handbell ringing to the wider community. The ringers have performed in Nursing Homes, Day Centres and Garden Centres, for Guilds, Rurals, Craft Fairs and Flower Festivals and participate in church services. They have been recorded for Hospital Radio, Perth, have been featured in The Scots Magazine and provided entertainment in venues such as Perth Concert Hall, Scone Palace, Pitlochry Theatre, St. Giles’ Cathedral, Dundee Flower Show, Iona Abbey and, of course, Dunkeld Cathedral.

Performances always include solo ringing by Heather I.McLean, the group’s leader. As one of Scotland’s few accomplished handbell soloists, Heather is in much demand. Her performance at The Perthshire Amber Festival in 2007 was beamed worldwide over the Internet and she rings as part of the Sunday event programme at The National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh.

Heather and her fellow soloist Margaret Davidson perform as the duo “Handbell Harmony” in Dunkeld Cathedral on Wednesday afternoons throughout the summer. Their performances, which include a recent lunchtime concert given in St. Giles’ Cathedral, are well received and becoming more and more popular.
